Another new state today: WYOMING! Get ready for a post full of photos (and we're not even to the national parks yet!)...
While we were still in Nebraska, we stopped at a new-to-us fast food place. The friends we saw last night told us about Runza... and compared the Runza - the "main event" there - to a leveled-up hot pocket. It was pretty darn good! I'd compare it to a maid-rite, for those of you who know what that is - although real, homemade bread. Mom and I both got the original, although there were many varieties we could have tried!
They had a shelter out back with picnic tables under it. It's a good thing we decided to soak up sunny and 82 degrees, because not even 2 hours later, the car told us it was 104 degrees!
After lunch, more excitement for a new state!
My personal favorite part of the state so far...
Wyoming is in the bottom five states for COVID vaccination rates, so we promised each other before we left Indy we'd try to get takeout as much as possible when in Wyoming. So we got takeout for dinner and took it to a lovely park with lots of green space in the middle of town. This was our dinner view...
Turns out the squirrels in the park were beggars and also wanted to eat dinner with us. They were ALL around us, and were daring to get closer and closer until I'd stand up and chase them away!
After dinner we took a trip to downtown and saw the state capitol building - beautiful!
We also saw the train depot...
There were some fun boot statues outside the depot.
And this sign...
We ended the evening with a gorgeous sunset over Cheyenne from my hotel window!
My evaluation of the city of Cheyenne is that it's a really unique and fun spot. Gotta say I was surprised... I wasn't expecting to like this city so much. I'd love to come back one day with more time to explore!
