The whiskey’s growing on me...

Today we set out on our mini trip within the trip. After a delicious breakfast with Seth and Brittany and the kids at Beetroot Sauvage, we headed to the bus stop to catch a bus to the rental car place. As Ken was signing papers, he asked the guy if the car took diesel. He said, “No... petrol. Normally at the pump it’s the green one, and as long as it’s not water, the car will run!” Well, okay then! Once we picked up our car, we were on our way to Oban.

Lots of scenic views along the way...

After a while, we decided to stop for lunch. We hit some traffic on the road and were practically right in front of this restaurant so decided to give it a go!

While we were eating, some F-18s flew over us. They gave us all a jolt with the sudden noise. We heard from the bartender that they are based at Fort William, and it was the afterburners that made them so loud. They are supposed to turn them off when they come in a village, but they don’t...

All in all, the lunch stop was a good choice and fueled us for the brief bit of our journey we had remaining for the day.

Some more beautiful scenery...

...and we arrived in Oban and headed straight to the distillery. Unfortunately, we had just missed the last tour of the day! We booked a tour for the morning and then checked out some shops. Soon after that we decided to go check into our B&B.

We were greeted by Colin, who welcomed us and showed us to our rooms and helped us get our bearings. He invited us back down for some “welcome whisky” and we happily obliged. Well, Ken did... and Pauline and I agreed to try it. :)

Here’s my face with my first taste... but I gotta say, it’s growing on me!!

The weather is beautiful (low 50s and sunny), so we spent time hanging out outside...

...taking in this incredible view!

Once it started to cool down a bit, we went to our rooms for a short while before heading to dinner. It was a lovely walk with more beautiful views.

I had the haddock and chips.

After dinner, we walked back to our B&B and took note of the beautiful sky over the water!

Another banner day...
